Weather Update: The weather across India has once again taken a turn. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), different parts of the country will experience different weather patterns on Monday, May 11. Thunderstorms and rain are expected to bring relief from the heat in many northern Indian states, while severe heat and heat waves will persist in Rajasthan, Gujarat, and western Madhya Pradesh.

Thunderstorms and rain are expected in Delhi-NCR, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, and the hilly states. A rain alert has been issued for several states in South India.

Delhi-NCR Weather

IMD has forecast light to moderate rain, strong winds, and thunderstorms for the Delhi-NCR region on Monday. Wind speeds could reach 40 to 60 kilometres per hour. It will remain hot during the day, but temperatures may drop in the evening. Noida, Ghaziabad, Gurugram, and Faridabad may also experience light rain accompanied by strong winds.

Rain. Lightning Expected In UP

The weather is expected to be active in western and eastern Uttar Pradesh. Rain and strong winds are expected in several districts between May 11 and 14. Several cities, including Lucknow, Kanpur, Meerut, Bareilly, Prayagraj, and Varanasi, are expected to experience cloudy skies and thunderstorms. IMD has advised farmers and those working in open fields to remain vigilant.

Punjab-Haryana Weather

The effects of a western disturbance will be felt in Punjab and Haryana. Dust storms, cloudy skies, and light rain are expected in several districts. Chandigarh and surrounding areas may also experience inclement weather. According to meteorologists, the weather in these states will remain unstable from May 11 to 13.

Severe Heat Wave Alert In Rajasthan

Heat waves will continue to persist in western Rajasthan. Temperatures could reach 44 to 46 degrees Celsius in Jaisalmer, Barmer, Bikaner, and Jodhpur. The IMD has issued a heatwave alert for these areas. Parts of eastern Rajasthan may see light clouds, but relief from the heat is unlikely.

Madhya Pradesh And Gujarat Weather

Western parts of Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat are also expected to experience intense heat. Hot winds are expected in Indore, Ujjain, Gwalior, and Bhopal. Heatwave conditions are expected in Ahmedabad and the Kutch region of Gujarat. However, some areas are expected to experience cloudy skies and light drizzle in the evening.

Uttarakhand-Himachal Weather

The weather is expected to be rough in the mountainous regions of Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh. Light snowfall is expected in the higher elevations and rain in the lower elevations. IMD has also issued a warning of strong winds and hailstorms. Pilgrims travelling on the Chardham Yatra routes have been advised to exercise caution.

Maharashtra Weather

Mumbai, Pune, and the Marathwada region of Maharashtra will experience hot and humid weather. Light rain is also possible in some areas. The Konkan region is expected to experience cloudy skies, thunderstorms, and strong winds.

Heavy Rain Alert In South India

Heavy rain is forecast for many parts of Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, and Andhra Pradesh. Very heavy rain is also possible in some areas of Tamil Nadu and Kerala. The Meteorological Department has warned of strong winds and lightning. Fishermen have also been advised not to venture into the sea.
