Weather News: As the monsoon is active across the country, multiple states are experiencing pleasant weather due to heavy rainfall, while several others are enduring the havoc of rain. Delhi and NCR districts are still awaiting steady rainfall. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued red and orange alerts in UP, Kerala has also been placed under red alert for torrential rainfall, as the Kozhikode district faced incidents of landslides. 

Red Alert In 6 UP Districts, 7 Other Places Under Orange Warning

The weather department has issued alerts for multiple districts in Uttar Pradesh, including Lalitpur, Jhansi, Mahoba, Banda, Chitrakoot, and Prayagraj, warning of extremely heavy rainfall and thunderstorms accompanied by lightning on Friday.

An orange alert has been issued for Jalaun, Hamirpur, Fatehpur, Kaushambi, Sant Ravidas Nagar, Mirzapur, and Sonbhadra, indicating very heavy rainfall with strong winds expected at speeds of 30-50 km/h.

Kerala On Red Alert For Torrential Rain After Kozhikode Landslides

Heavy rainfall has wreaked havoc in Kerala, as incidents of Landslides were registered in Kozhikode district on Thursday, inundating multiple homes. The rising water levels in rivers like Uppala, Manjeswaram, Madhur, and Puthige in the Kasaragod district have prompted authorities to issue warnings for residents living along the riverbanks.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a 'Red' alert for Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, and Kasaragod districts due to persistent heavy rainfall. The alert will remain in effect for:

  • Wayanad, Kannur, and Kasaragod districts for the next three days

  • Kozhikode district on July 19 and 20

  • Malappuram district on July 20

Heavy Rain In Rajasthan As North West Braces For Isolated Downpour

Extremely heavy rainfall at isolated places exceeding 21 cm is expected to better Rajasthan on Friday. Isolated heavy to very heavy rains are forecast over Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and East Uttar Pradesh from July 18 to 23.

While residents in Delhi and NCR continue to enjoy intermittent rainfall, but still await steady rainfall as patchy rain contributed to heightened humidity and uncomfortable conditions.

Isolated heavy to hefty rainfall is likely across Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Lakshadweep throughout the week.
