Rain Forecast In India: Strong southwesterly to southerly winds sweeping in from the Bay of Bengal, combined with the cyclonic circulation hovering over northeast Assam, are expected to bring heavy to very heavy rainfall with isolated extreme heavy showers over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Assam-Meghalaya during the next two days.

Sikkim is expected to see similar weather, with periods of heavy rainfall from June 20 to 22 after an early forecast of widespread mild to moderate rainfall.

Widespread Rain Likely In Goa, Konkan, Gujarat

For the next five days, Gujarat, Konkan and Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, and Marathwada will experience scattered to fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall along with thunderstorms and lightning due to another cyclonic circulation that is situated over the Northeast Arabian Sea, which borders Saurashtra, and the West Central Bay of Bengal, which borders Coastal Andhra Pradesh. On June 20 and 21, isolated, intense rainfall is predicted across Gujarat, the Konkan and Goa, and the Madhya Maharashtra ghat regions.

Kerala Rain Forecast

The IMD predicts that after a decrease in monsoon rainfall over the past few days, Kerala should see an uptick in rain by June 21–22. On Tuesday, the weather forecasting agency issued a yellow alert in six districts in northern Kerala and an orange alert for June 21 in Malappuram, Kozhikode, and Kannur.

On June 22, IMD issued a yellow alert in eight more districts and an orange alert in Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kannur, and Kasaragod.

The IMD states that because of the strong westerly/southwesterly winds over the Kerala coast on those two days, there would be an increase in the amount of rainfall.
