Assam Floods:  The flood, caused by excessive rainfall over the last several days, has affected over 1.05 lakh people in 14 districts of Assam. According to the Assam State Disaster Management Authority's (ASDMA) flood report, the Karimganj area alone has affected over 96,000 people.

According to reports, continuous rainfall in some areas of Assam and neighbouring states is responsible for the rise in the water level of the powerful Brahmaputra River.

ASDMA reports that at Kampur in Nagaon district, the Kopili River's water level, a Brahmaputra River tributary, is also above the danger level mark. The district's resident informed ANI that the water level was fluctuating.

"There is a statue in the middle of the river and when the water reaches its neck, we realize that the water level has risen," the local said.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast that severe to very heavy rain is anticipated until June 20 in several parts of the nation, including Assam and Meghalaya, which might worsen the situation. Particularly, IMD issued a warning of very high rainfall on June 18.
