The monsoon has made its return across various regions of Uttar Pradesh but some areas also witnessed a rise in temperatures and humidity, causing discomfort to residents. On Friday, Delhi recorded a maximum temperature two degrees Celsius above normal, contributing to the humid heat. While monsoon persists in several districts of UP, it is beginning to withdraw from the Purvanchal region.
No Relief From Humid Heat
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts partly cloudy skies for Delhi. Despite this, mild humid heat is expected to continue for the next few days. No rain is predicted for Sunday, with temperatures likely to remain between 35 to 36 degrees Celsius until Tuesday.
Rain Expected In Madhya Pradesh
In contrast, according to the IMD, Madhya Pradesh is expected to experience rainfall in multiple districts. Ajay Shukla, a former senior meteorologist, noted that the monsoon is in its withdrawal phase, leading to clearer skies and rising daytime temperatures. However, significant moisture in the atmosphere is still causing partial cloud cover. He stated that light to moderate rain is forecasted for several districts on Sunday.
Air Quality Deteriorates In NCR
The air quality in Delhi saw a slight rise in pollution levels on Friday, with the Air Quality Index (AQI) nearing the "poor" category, just 17 points shy. Meanwhile, Ghaziabad, Greater Noida, and Noida in the NCR recorded AQI levels over 200, placing them in the "poor" category.
According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), Delhi's air quality is expected to remain in the "moderate" category for three days, with the potential to slip into the "poor" category thereafter.
