Dense fog has enveloped North India, causing a significant drop in day temperatures and leading to disruptions in flights and train operations. VIP trains, including the Vande Bharat Express, are experiencing delays exceeding 20 hours. Approximately 80 flights were reported delayed at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport due to adverse weather conditions.

The Meteorological Department predicts the impact of snowfall in the mountains and western disturbance in the coming days, resulting in a further temperature drop. Cold wave conditions are anticipated in Delhi between January 5 and 11, with the Meteorological Department issuing a yellow alert for the next three days.

On Friday, about 150 trains, including Vande Bharat, Rajdhani, Shatabdi, and Humsafar, arrived in Delhi way behind their schedule, some experiencing delays of 10 to 20 hours. The departure times of several trains had to be adjusted. Vande Bharat Express from Varanasi to Delhi was delayed by 20:31 hours, leading to its cancellation on Friday.

Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport witnessed dense fog for three and a half hours in the morning, causing visibility to drop to 150 meters and impacting flights. The minimum temperature increased due to a western disturbance, reaching four degrees Celsius above normal in the morning. However, the drop in daytime temperatures marked Friday as the coldest day of the season.

The adverse weather conditions have led to challenges for travelers, with passengers expressing frustration over delays and crowding at train stations.
