The weather in northern India is likely to witness a change in the next five days, as two consecutive western disturbances will affect the region on January 30 and February 3, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
Rain and Snow Forecast
The IMD forecasted snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh and Himachal Pradesh till February 3, starting from today. There is also a possibility of heavy rain at isolated places in Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh on January 30 and 31.
Light rain or snowfall over Uttarakhand and light rainfall over Punjab, Chandigarh, Haryana, West Uttar Pradesh are also expected from January 31 to February 2.
IMD Issues Warning For Dense Fog
The IMD also issued a warning of dense fog and cold to severe cold day conditions in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh during the next two days. Dense fog is also likely to occur in parts of Uttarakhand, North Madhya Pradesh, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Odisha, Assam and Meghalaya.
Mercury To Witness Dip
The minimum temperature is likely to increase by 2 to 4 degrees Celsius in many parts of northwest India during the next 4-5 days, while there will be no significant change in minimum temperatures over many parts of East India and Western India. However, cold wave to severe cold wave conditions are likely to continue in isolated areas of Sub-Himalayan West Bengal on January 29.
