The weather in North India is transitioning towards colder conditions as the region witnesses a decline in temperatures. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) stated that the temperatures in these states, including Delhi NCR are expected to drop further in the coming days. The recent snowfall in higher reaches is contributing to this shift and the cold weather is anticipated to spread across several northern states soon.
In Uttar Pradesh, the weather remains clear, with no rain forecasted. However, temperatures have started to decline, and cold weather is expected to set in after October 20. Bihar, on the other hand, may experience colder conditions around Diwali and Chhath.
Jharkhand's southern parts are likely to experience rain over the next five days due to low pressure in the Bay of Bengal. However, the capital city is expected to remain unaffected, with cloud cover predicted from October 16 to 18, though this will not significantly impact temperatures.

In the hilly regions, the cold has become severe, with drinking water freezing in areas like Lahaul Spiti and Kinnaur. Snowfall may occur as the southwest monsoon withdraws from northern states. Meanwhile, Uttarakhand is forecasted to remain dry for now, but colder conditions are likely as the mercury continues to drop.
The IMD has also issued heavy rain alerts for several states today. Maharashtra, including Mumbai, Pune, Nashik and Nagpur, may experience downpours, with a lightning alert in Nagpur. Additionally, parts of Tamil Nadu, such as Madurai and Thanjavur, are expected to see rainfall, with a yellow alert issued across Andhra Pradesh.
