Heavy rains lashed various parts of the country in the last two days, causing waterlogging and flood-like situations in villages and urban areas alike across India. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an alert for heavy rains in several regions, including Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Assam, Karnataka and Kerala, urging locals to exercise caution to avoid any untoward incident.     

Mumbai Rains

Mumbai, facing continuous heavy rain for the past two days, is particularly hard hit. The city experienced severe waterlogging, disrupting suburban train services and air traffic. The IMD has issued a red alert for Mumbai, anticipating further heavy rains. The army and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) have been deployed to assist with rescue operations.

Delhi NCR Weather Updates 

In Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad and Gurugram, clouds have gathered, but rain remains elusive, leaving residents to endure the humid heat. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasted rain in Delhi-NCR, predicting cloudy skies and potential showers today, with a yellow alert issued for the next three days.

Bihar Weather Updates 

The southwest monsoon has temporarily weakened after a week of activity in Bihar. As a result, temperatures are expected to rise over the next two to three days, with light rain forecasted for some northern districts. 

On Monday, Aurangabad recorded the highest temperature in the state at 38.2 degrees Celsius, while the minimum was 24.5 degrees Celsius. The capital, Patna, saw a maximum temperature of 35 degrees Celsius.

UP Weather Updates 

Uttar Pradesh experienced heavy rainfall over the past week, keeping maximum temperatures between 33-35 degrees Celsius and minimum temperatures between 22-25 degrees Celsius. For the next two days, cloud movement and sunshine are expected, with no significant rainfall except for light drizzles.

The weather is set to change from Thursday, bringing substantial rain to Lucknow until July 14. The IMD has issued a warning for heavy rain in several districts, including Deoria, Gorakhpur, Sant Kabir Nagar and others, with potential thunderstorms and lightning.

Red Alert In Karnataka

Karnataka is witnessing heavy rain, prompting the administration to remain on high alert. The district administration of Dakshina Kannada has announced the closure of all schools and colleges up to class 12 on Tuesday, following the IMD's red alert for the next 24 hours. The IMD has predicted continued heavy rains due to which the administration has responded by implementing precautionary measures.

Flood Worsen In Assam

Assam is battling worsening flood conditions due to heavy rains, forcing people to live in camps, many of which remain submerged. At least 85 deaths have been reported dead so far due to severe flooding in the northeastern state. The administration has closed schools and cancelled numerous trains and flights in response to the severe flooding.

Rain Forecast Today

According to Skymet, a weather information website, several regions across India, including Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Uttarakhand, Bihar, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Telangana, Sikkim, Goa, Kerala, Odisha, Rajasthan, Jharkhand, Gujarat and Kerala, are likely to experience rain today. While some areas may see heavy rain, others might receive light to moderate showers. 

Additionally, heavy rain is forecasted for Haryana, Punjab, Delhi-NCR, Ladakh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Uttarakhand, posing potential risks of landslides due to the downpours.
