West Bengal Cabinet Portfolio Allotment: Dilip Ghosh, Agnimitra Paul Get Key Departments; Check Full List

West Bengal CM Suvendu Adhikari on Monday allocated portfolios to the ministers in his Cabinet, paving the way for the formal start of governance through various departments in the state.

Under the allocation plan, senior leaders Dilip Ghosh and Agnimitra Paul have been given the responsibilities of key departments.

Who gets what in Suvendu Cabinet?

Dilip Ghosh will take over the Panchayat and Rural Development and Agricultural Marketing departments

Agnimitra Paul will hold the Urban Development and Women and Child Welfare Department.

Among other ministers, Ashok Kirtaniya has been allocated the Food Department, Khudhiram Tudu has been given the charge of the Tribal Development Department, and Nishith Pramanik has been given the charge of the North Bengal Development and Sports and Youth Welfare Departments.

Important decisions in the first meeting of the Suvendu cabinet

Following the formation of the new BJP government in Bengal, the first cabinet meeting, chaired by CM Suvendu Adhikari, was held on Monday.

The first Cabinet meeting saw several major decisions and approvals for various important proposals. In a most significant decision related to border security, the Bengal Cabinet approved a proposal to allocate land to the Border Security Force (BSF) for fencing in unfenced areas along the India-Bangladesh border.

Speaking to the media after the first cabinet meeting, CM Adhikari said that, in accordance with promises made in the election manifesto, the necessary land transfer to the BSF for fencing the international border would be completed within 45 days. Adhikari said the land transfer process would begin on Monday and be completed within 45 days.

In addition, the Cabinet also approved the implementation of Central schemes in the state, including Ayushman Bharat Health Scheme, the PM Vishwakarma Scheme, and the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (Save the Girl Child) initiative. The state has also decided to implement the new criminal law, BNS, starting Monday.
