'Nexus Between The Police And 'Coal Mafia'
A nexus between the police and the 'coal mafia' is responsible for the mine collapse, said Poddar, claiming that such incidents have become prevalent across West Bengal.
"At about 7.45 am today, five people got trapped due to mine collapse. Two people were rescued safely. One body was also retrieved. Two more bodies were recovered in front of me. They were extracting coal from rathole. This is a syndicate. Central force, Police and mafia is involved. It is the villagers who die. This is prevalent across Bengal," the BJP MLA claimed on Tuesday.
TMC Slams Centre
The ruling party, Trinamool Congress, also reacted to the incident, blaming the Centre for the negligence. "A coal mine operated by @BCCLofficial has collapsed in the Bordila area of Asansol, with several people feared trapped under the debris. BCCL is a subsidiary of @CoalIndiaHQ and functions under the jurisdiction of the @CoalMinistry," said TMC in a note on X.

How did such a catastrophic safety failure… pic.twitter.com/4wKnRWH4ke
How did such a catastrophic safety failure occur under the watch of the Central government, asked the ruling party adding who will be held accountable for this negligence and the disregard for the lives of Bengal’s people.
"Will @narendramodi take responsibility. Will @kishanreddybjp be held to account. From stampedes to tunnel collapses, from terrorist attacks to bomb blasts, wherever BJP goes, tragedy follows. Their governance leaves behind a trail of death, destruction, and abdication of responsibility. Bengal will not forgive such criminal apathy," it added.
