West Bengal Election Exit Poll Results 2026: The projection of results of the bitterly fought West Bengal Assembly election 2026 has been declared, in which exit polls showed that Mamata Banerjee's Trinamool is likely to be defeated in the election. Major pollster agencies predicted the BJP's victory, ending Mamata's 15-year-long dominance in Bengal politics. However, it is just a prediction, not the result. The Jagran Maha Poll predicted a hung assembly as both - the TMC and the BJP are likely to settle with 143 seats, while other may win 8 constituencies. 

The exit poll by Chanakya Strategies has projected 150-160 Assembly seats in the BJP's corner while placing Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress (TMC) with 130-140 seats of the total 294 Assembly seats in the state.

According to exit poll projections by Matrize, the BJP is winning the West Bengal Assembly polls with 146-161, while TMC is projected to win 125 to 140 seats.

Meanwhile, as per Matrize too, other parties are being projected to win six to 10 Assembly seats in West Bengal.

The exit poll by Poll Diary has projected 142 to 171 Assembly seats in the BJP's corner, while placing Mamata Banerjee's party with 99 to 127 seats in West Bengal. Meanwhile, other political parties are projected to win five to nine Assembly seats.

Several exit poll agencies and news outlets conduct surveys after polling, and based on the sample data, they predict results; however, it is not a result, but a projection. The final result will be declared by the Election Commission of India on May 4.

Why Is Second Phase Poll Significant?

The Election Commission of India held the second and final phase of the election on Wednesday, with reports of sporadic incidents of violence. Of the 142 seats that went to the polls today, the TMC had won 123 in 2021, the BJP just 18 and the ISF one, which means the BJP has to do well in the second phase if it wants to dislodge the TMC, which has been in power since 2011.

If the first phase on April 23 tested whether the BJP could retain its traditional edge in north Bengal and adjoining districts, the final round shifts the battle decisively to the TMC's home turf - Kolkata, Howrah, North and South 24 Parganas, Nadia, Hooghly and Purba Bardhaman.

Over 3.2 crore electors decided the fate of 1,448 candidates for the 142 seats across the state's political heartland in the second phase of polling. The voters locked their decision in the EVMs on whether the TMC continues to hold its southern fortress or the BJP has finally breached Mamata's traditional vote bank.
