Sanskrit will soon be taught in madrasas registered under the Uttarakhand Madarsa Education Board. The Board's Chairman, Mufti Shamoon Qasmi, announced that a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Board and the state Sanskrit Education Department will be signed shortly. Initially, Sanskrit will be introduced in modern madrasas as part of the first phase of the project.
Mufti Shamoon Qasmi highlighted the significance of both Sanskrit and Arabic as ancient languages. "If a Maulvi knows Sanskrit and a Panditji knows Arabic, what could be better than this?" he remarked. He also confirmed ongoing discussions with the Sanskrit Education Department, stating the importance of signing the MoU soon.
Qasmi also informed that the NCERT curriculum has been implemented across 416 madrasas registered with the board. The Board is making consistent efforts to modernise these institutions, to help madrasa students pursue careers as engineers, doctors and civil servants. Over the past year, students have been linked with various national programs, Qasmi added.
