The chief of the National Commission for Women (NCW) on Friday shared the details of the conversation between the panel and social media influencers Ranveer Allahbadia and Apoorva Mukhija. Her remarks came a day after the influencers appeared before the NCW in connection to the alleged derogatory remarks made on Samay Raina's show India's Got Latent.

NCW chief Vijaya Kishore Rahatkar, while providing details, said that both of the influencers had submitted an apology letter to the panel and promised that they would stay alert in the future. “Ranveer told the panel that he could not reverse what happened, but he’d act with caution in future," Rahatkar said. She further said that the influencers had expressed regret over their statement, adding that the duo would be summoned again.

Rahatkar emphasised that the kind of language used in the show was unacceptable, and the women's commission would never accept such comments. She also confirmed that the commission had taken suo motu cognisance in the matter, as it is likely to have a negative impact on the society.

“I condemn the kind of statements made, we took suo motu cognisance keeping in view the social impact of such statements," Rahatkar said. “We have told them that the kind of statements used, we can proceed against you," she added.

Apart from them, Saurabh Bothra and Tushar Poojari (producers of the show) and lawyers of stand-up comedian Jaspreet Singh and YouTuber Ashish Chanchalani also appeared before the commission.

Several of the reports suggested that the influencers were questioned for hours, and they expressed regret over their statement. They also clarified that the remarks were unintentional and were not made to hurt anyone's sentiments. While the commission told them that strong action can be taken against them, the influencers stated that they will stay cautious in the future.
