Radha Soami Dera Baba: The Radha Soami Satsang Beas (RSSB), a renowned spiritual organization headquartered on the banks of the Beas River near Amritsar, made a significant announcement regarding its leadership on Monday. Gurinder Singh Dhillon, the current head of RSSB, has appointed Dr Jasdeep Singh Gill as the new patron and 'sant satguru' of the organization. 

Dr Gill, a distinguished chemical engineer with a doctorate from Cambridge and an alumnus of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Delhi, is set to carry forward the spiritual legacy of RSSB.

Senior AAP leader Somnath Bharti has shared a copy of the announcement on X, formerly known as Twitter which reads, "Revered Sant Satguru & Patron of Radha Soami Satsang Beas, Baba Gurinder Singh Dhillon has nominated S Jasdeep Singh Gill Son of S Sukhdev Singh Gill as Patron of Radha Soami Satsang Beas Society. He will succeed Him as Patron with immediate effect from 02 September 2024.”

Who Is Gurinder Singh Dhillon

The fifth and current head of the Radha Soami Satsang Beas, Baba Gurinder Singh Dhillon, became the head of the dera in 1990 and lives in Beas. 

After appointing Jasdeep Singh Gill as his successor, Baba Gurinder Singh Dhillon gave a message to the Sangat and said, “Just as after Huzoor Maharaj Ji, he has received full support and love from the Sangat, similarly he has wished and requested that Shri Jasdeep Singh Gill should also do the same in serving him as a mentor and Saint Satguru. Love and affection should be given.”

Radha Soami Satsang Beas and Gurinder Singh Dhillion have never expressed their political affiliations. However, the Dera has become a notable hub for political engagement, with leaders from various political parties, including Congress, SAD-BJP, and AAP, making visits during election periods. RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, also visited the dera during his trip to Jalandhar last year.

Radha Soami Satsang Beas is a spiritual organization that respects the teachings of all religions and is committed to the journey of inner development. The Dera’s mission, which revolves around the philosophy of “selfless service and voluntarism”,  is to foster spiritual growth and community well-being through practices that unite and uplift, encouraging individuals to explore and cultivate their inner selves while serving others with compassion and dedication.

The Dera Beas, a prominent spiritual and religious centre in Punjab, traces its origins to Baba Jaimal Singh, a revered figure whose vision laid its foundation. Baba Jaimal Singh was born in 1839 and was initially a disciple of a guru based in Agra. 

In 1891, he founded the Dera Baba Jaimal Singh, starting with a mud hut situated on the banks of the Beas River, approximately 45 kilometres from Amritsar, as reported by Indian Express. According to the Dera officials, there are around 20 million followers and the Dera has around 5,000 big and small centres.
