Jyoti Malhotra Spying Case: A Haryana-based travel blogger YouTuber - Jyoti Malhotra - and five others were arrested for allegedly spying for Pakistan during ongoing tensions with the neighbouring country. A report published by Indiatoday stated that they were indulged in passing sensitive information to Pakistani operatives. The espionage network spread across Haryana and Punjab. They were working for Pakistan as agents, financial conduits, and informants to keep an eye on the activities of the Indian Armed Forces amid the conflict.
Who Is Jyoti Malhotra?
According to news agency ANI, Jyoti, daughter of Haris Kumar, resident of Hisar, Haryana, was interrogated for allegedly passing information to the Pakistani side. She allegedly met a Pakistani officer, Ehsan-ur-Rahim, in Delhi, travelled to Pakistan twice, and shared sensitive info. A case was filed against her under the relevant sections.
Jyoti runs the YouTube channel - 'Travel with Jo'. She travelled to Pakistan and uploaded videos on her channel. During her Pakistan in 2023, she met Ehsan-ur-Rahim alias Danish, a staff member at the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi. According to the media report, Ehsan after being declared persona non grata by the Indian government and expelled on May 13, 2025, allegedly introduced her to multiple Pakistani Intelligence Operatives (PIOs). The reports suggested that she was actively in touch with those PIOs on on encrypted platforms like WhatsApp, Telegram, and Snapchat. The report further said she allegedly shared sensitive information concerning Indian locations. It was also said that Jyoti entered into an intimate relationship with a PIO. She toured to Bali, Indonesia with him.
Cases Against Jyoti
Malhotra was produced before the court by the police. The court has sent her to a five-day police remand. The authorities filed a case against her under Section 152 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Sections 3, 4, and 5 of the Official Secrets Act, 1923. The report claimed that her written confession was handed over to the Economic Offences Wing, Hisar.
Man arrested for passing information to Pakistan army, ISI
A resident of a village in Kaithal, Haryana, was also arrested for allegedly passing information to the Pakistan army and ISI during the recent India-Pakistan conflict.
The accused is identified as Devendra, a resident of Mastgarh Cheeka village in Kaithal. DSP Kaithal Veerbhan said, "Intelligence information was received by the district police of Kaithal, on that basis our special detective staff arrested Devendra, son of Narwal Singh, resident of village Mastgarh Cheeka."
Police questioned Devendra after taking him into custody. As per the Police, Devendra, during his interrogation, told police that he was in contact with the Pakistan intelligence agency, ISI.
"After taking him into custody, he was questioned. During that interrogation, he said that he was in contact with the Pakistan intelligence agency, ISI. He used to provide information about the dispute going on between India and Pakistan to that agency, and also information about Operation Sindoor to the Pakistani army and the ISI from time to time. Our staff at the cyber police station is doing a thorough investigation into the devices found with him. Whatever the truth may come out, the law will be followed accordingly," DSP Kaithal Veerbhan added.
On May 4 in another operation, Punjab Police arrested two individuals for their alleged involvement in leaking sensitive information and photographs of Army Cantonment areas and Air Bases in Amritsar to Pakistan intelligence operatives.
The accused have been identified as Palak Sher Masih and Suraj Masih. Speaking to ANI, Rural Amritsar Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Maninder Singh said,
