The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Thursday successfully coordinated the repatriation of Manakandathil Thekkethi, a fugitive wanted in a criminal conspiracy and cheating case, from Saudi Arabia. Thekkethi alias Sheela Allyani was repatriated following a CBI operation in connection with the cheating case.
The CBI, in coordination with the Ministry of Home Affairs, successfully brought back Manakandathil Thekkethi from Saudi Arabia on October 9 through Interpol channels, news agency ANI reported.
Who Is Manakandathil Thekkethi And How Did CBI Track Her Down?
- Manakandathil Thekkethi alias Sheela Allyani has been wanted in a case involving criminal conspiracy and cheating.
- She was brought back to India on October 9 through Interpol channels from Saudi Arabia following a CBI operation.
- Earlier, on October 5, the CBI received a Red notice against Thekkethi through Interpol channels.
- A Red Notice is published by Interpol and shared with all law enforcement agencies to track wanted fugitives, like Manakandathil Thekkethi.
- In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the Central Bureau of Investigation stated that a team of officials travelled to Saudi Arabia and brought the fugitive back to India on October 9.
- The post further stated that CBI, as the National Central Bureau for Interpol in India, coordinated with law enforcement agencies via Bharatpol for assistance through Interpol channels.

Apart from Manakandathil Thekkethi, over 130 wanted criminals have been successfully brought back to India in recent years through Interpol channels. In recent months, the CBI has intensified its efforts to bring back fugitives through international cooperation.
In September, Munawar Khan was successfully brought back from Kuwait via Interpol channels. In the same month, Harshit Babulal Jain was deported from the UAE in a joint operation involving the CBI, the Ministry of External Affairs, and Gujarat Police, Hindustan Times reported.
