Amid rumours of possible engagement between Indian cricketer and Samajwadi Party MP Priya Saroj, latter's father Tufani Saroj stated that the engagement news was not true as Priya is not in the city at the moment. He stated that while the talks were going on, no formal engagement has taken place till now. “Priya is in Thiruvananthapuram at the moment for some work, and no, her engagement with Rinku Singh has not happened,” Tufani Saroj said. Earlier last year, Priya Saroj was in the news for becoming of the youngest MPs at the age of 26.
Who is Priya Saroj?
Priya Saroj is a Samajwadi Party leader who represents Machhlishahr constituency in the Lok Sabha. Born in 1998 in Varanasi, she completed her schooling in New Delhi from Air Force Golden Jubilee Institute. As per the website of the Lok Sabha, Saroj is a lawyer by profession and completed her graduation in Law from Amity University in Noida. Saroj is one of the youngest members of the parliament at the age of 26 when she registered a comprehensive victory in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
Priya Saroj defeated BJP's incumbent MP BP Saroj by almost 36,000 votes. She is also a member of the parliamentary committee on social justice and empowerment. Priya Saroj has a political background as her father Tufani Saroj has also been a politician for more than 2 decades. Tufani Saroj was a three-time MP and is currently an MLA from Uttar Pradesh's Kerakat seat in Jaunpur.

Priya Saroj was also in the headlines for not being a "super-rich" member of parliament. Election affidavit of Priya Saroj stated that she has a net worth of Rs 11,25,719. She has Rs 75,000 in cash, Rs 10,10,000 deposited in the Union Bank, and Rs 8,719 deposited in the Canara Bank. Though she has no car and home to her name, she has 5gm Gold worth Rs 32,000 to her name.
