Meghalaya Honeymoon Murder: In a latest development in the Meghalaya Honeymoon murder case, a new name has emerged, deepening the murder mystery even more. This new person, identified as Sanjay Verma, was in touch with the prime accused, Sonam, even before her wedding with Raja Raghuvanshi.
According to media reports, Sonam called Sanjay Verma 119 times between March 1 and March 25 and spoke with him 234 times from March 1 to April 8. The call record accessed by the police revealed the extensive conversation between the two. Currently, the number is switched off.
A 29-year-old Indore businessman, Raja Raghuvanshi, who went for his honeymoon to the northeast, was killed by his wife, her lover and aides in the parking lot of Weisawdong Falls in Meghalaya, and his body was dumped in a nearby gorge in the East Khasi Hills district on May 23.
Raja was killed by three hitmen, namely, Vishal, Anand and Akash, hired by Sonam and her boyfriend, Raj Khushwaha. All the accused, including Sonam and Raj, have been arrested. The hitmen, Vishal, Anand and Akash bought a SIM before killing Raja and deactivated it after the crime.
Meghalaya Police recovered the second machete on Tuesday, used by Sonam and her aids to kill her husband, Raja Raghuvanshi, as they recreated the crime scene at Weisadong Falls. The crime scene recreation took place amid heavy security as the Special Investigative Team (SIT) brought all the accused of the murder to Sohra, around 65 km from Shillong, where the murder took place.
The Meghalaya Special Investigative Team (SIT) on Wednesday reached the residence of Sonam Raghuvanshi in Madhya Pradesh’s Indore to collect important clues in connection with the killing of Sonam’s husband Raja Raghuvanshi.
A team of Meghalaya police had visited Indore on Tuesday as well. According to a local police official, “A Meghalaya police team visited the flat in Dewas Naka area…. We have received information that after Raghuvanshi’s murder, his wife Sonam was hiding in this flat for a few days. She later went to Uttar Pradesh, where she was arrested," PTI reported.
