AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi sparked fresh controversy on Tuesday when he raised a slogan in favour of Palestine after taking oath for discharging his duties as a Lok Sabha member. The five-time Hyderabad MP chanted "Jai Bhim, Jai Mim, Jai Telangana, Jai Palestine, Takbeer Allahu Akbar" after completing his oath in the lower house of the Parliament, sparking widespread debate and calls for action against him.
Several complaints have been filed with President Droupadi Murmu seeking the immediate disqualification of All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi for his sloganeering in favour of a foreign state.

The complaints, including one from Supreme Court lawyer Alakh Alok Srivastava, alleged that Owaisi's public declaration of "Jai Palestine" in Parliament signals his allegiance to a foreign country. Srivastava's complaint highlighted that Owaisi's actions make him liable for disqualification under Article 102(d) of the Indian Constitution.
What Is Article 102(d) Of Indian Constitution?
Article 102 of the Indian Constitution outlines the grounds for disqualification of a Representative of the House who can be disqualified for being chosen as and for being a member of either Lok Sabha or Rajya Sabha.
Article 102 (d) states that an MP can be disqualified if they acknowledge allegiance or adherence to a foreign state. “If he is not a citizen of India, or has voluntarily acquired the citizenship of a foreign State, or is under any acknowledgement of allegiance or adherence to a foreign State,’’ the Indian Constitution reads.
The complaints alleged that Owaisi has consistently demonstrated support for Palestine over the years, indicating a pattern of allegiance that contradicts his role as an Indian lawmaker. They also claimed that failing to disqualify Owaisi would set a dangerous precedent, potentially compromising the nation's integrity and unity.
