Rajya Sabha MP V Sivadasan from Kerala has reported receiving a threatening phone call from an unknown number claiming to represent the banned group Sikhs For Justice (SFJ). The incident occurred on July 21 at 11:30 pm while Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader V Sivadasan was at the IGI Airport Lounge in Delhi with fellow MP AA Rahim.

In his letter to the Rajya Sabha Chairman, V Sivadasan detailed the threat, the caller, allegedly representing SFJ, threatened of an attack on the Indian Parliament and the Red Fort area, citing a Khalistan referendum message. The partial text of the recorded message reportedly included threats to disrupt the Indian Parliament and a call for MPs to remain home.

The caller claimed that Sikhs For Justice was issuing this threat to draw attention to the alleged existential threat faced by Sikhs in India. The message purportedly came from Gurpatwantsingh Pannun, a leader of Sikhs For Justice.

This incident follows the recent extension of the ban on Sikhs For Justice by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA). On July 9, 2024, the MHA declared SFJ an unlawful association for an additional five years under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967.

The extension of the ban was justified by SFJ's involvement in "anti-national and subversive activities aimed at disrupting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of India." A similar ban was previously imposed on SFJ in 2019.
