Babri Masjid Row: In an attempt to placate a row over Trinamool Congress (TMC) MLA Humayun Kabir statement that he would lay the foundation stone of Babri Masjid on December 6 in Belganga, Murshidabad, party leader Nirmal Ghosh distanced the ruling party from the controversial statement. Ghosh said his party colleague has "gone beyond the limits" and that his statements are his personal opinion, and that the party does not agree with him.

"He (Humayun Kabir) is not in contact with the party. His speeches have nothing to do with the party. They are his own statements, but the party doesn't agree with them. He has gone beyond the limits," Nirmal Ghosh said while speaking to news agency ANI in North 24 Parganas on Tuesday.

Earlier, Kabir claimed that he would lay the foundation stone of Babri Masjid on December 6 in Belganga to mark the 33 years since the demolition of the then-disputed structure in Ayodhya, drawing a sharp reaction from the Bharatiya Janata Party.
