There lies a dream to make Maharashtra the power centre of the world and Mumbai the fintech capital, said Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday. The remarks came as PM Modi inaugurated, laid the foundation stone and dedicated ambitious projects worth more than 29 thousand crores at a program held at Nesco Exhibition Center in Goregaon. Governor Ramesh Bais, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Union Minister Piyush Goyal, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, Union Minister of State Ramdas Athawale, Mumbai City District's Guardian Minister Deepak Kesarkar, Mumbai Suburban District's Guardian Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha were also present on the occasion.
Vadhavan Port Project To Create 10 Lakh Jobs
PM Modi said that in the last few years, the connectivity between Mumbai and the region has increased and it will be even better in the coming years. Various development projects are being carried out in the state and this is also increasing employment. Vadhavan port has been approved recently and projects worth Rs 76 thousand crores are expected to create 10 lakh jobs. Maharashtra has become a center of attraction for investors and the central and state governments will work faster.
Maharashtra Should Become A Hub For Tourism
Maharashtra has a glorious history and it is a power center of industry, agriculture and finance sectors. There are more opportunities for the tourism sector here and therefore it should become a hub, PM Modi expressed. The citizens of the country want rapid development and Maharashtra and Mumbai, will have a big role in it. Talking about the efforts being made to make the life of the citizens of Maharashtra better, he said that due to projects like Sagari Kinara Marg Atal Setu, the citizens are benefitting. Ten years ago, the metro was running for 8 km in Mumbai, whereas today it is running for 80 km and work is in progress on 200 km of metro network.
Maharashtra Leading In Infrastructure Facilities: Chief Minister Eknath Shinde
Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said that the country has made unprecedented progress in the last ten years since Prime Minister Narendra Modi took over power. He also highlighted how development projects of the state are getting completed and development works have got a new momentum. The identity of Maharashtra as an industry-friendly state is being built again, he added. He also expressed confidence that the Prime Minister's support will be available for building a safe, beautiful and strong Mumbai.
Mumbai's Face Will Change Due After Series Of Infrastructure Facilities: Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis
Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said various development works are being done in Mumbai and PM Modi’s name will be inked in history for the construction of infrastructure facilities. In the year 2018, the state had resolved to create such connectivity that one can travel anywhere in Mumbai within an hour. The various projects being done in Mumbai are a miracle of infrastructure facilities, he added.
Youth Will Get Direction Through Yuva Karya Prashikshan Yojana: Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar
Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar said that the state government is taking decisions in public interest and various public welfare projects are being completed rapidly. He mentioned that the work of directioning the youth is being done through Yuva Karya Prashikshan Yojana.

All About The Projects
Thane Borivali: This is a tunnel project costing Rs 16,600 crores. This double tube tunnel between Thane and Borivali will pass under the Sanjay Gandhi National Park. This will create a direct connectivity between the Western Express Highway towards Borivali and Thane Ghodbunder Road in Thane. The total length of the projects is 11.8 km. This will reduce the journey from Thane to Borivali by 12 km and will save about one hour in travel time.
Goregaon Mulund Link Road: The foundation stone was laid for the tunnel work of this project costing Rs 6,300 crores. The idea behind the Goregaon Mulund Link Road project is to connect the Goregaon West Express Highway to the Mulund East Express Highway. The total length of the Goregaon Mulund Link Road project is approximately 6.65 km and will provide direct connectivity to the western suburbs with the newly proposed Navi Mumbai Airport and the Pune Mumbai Expressway.
The Prime Minister also inaugurated the Mukhyamantri Yuva Karya Prashikshan Yojana. It is a transformational internship program and aims to solve the problem of unemployment among the youth by providing them opportunities for skill development and industrial orientation in the age group of 18 to 30 years. The cost of this scheme is approximately Rs 5,540 crore.
The Prime Minister also laid the foundation stone for the restructuring of the Kalyan yard. The restructuring of the Kalyan yard will help in separating the long distance trains and suburban railway trains and their traffic. The restructuring will increase the capacity of the yard to handle more trains, reduce congestion and improve the efficiency of the yard in terms of handling trains. An expenditure of Rs 813 crore is expected for this.
The Gatishakti Multimodal Cargo Terminal at Turbhe in Navi Mumbai will be constructed on an area of more than 32,600 square meters and will generate additional employment opportunities for the local people and will also meet the requirement of additional terminals to handle cement and other commodities. The project will cost Rs 27 crore.
Prime Minister Modi also inaugurated the platform at Lokmanya Tilak Terminus and the extended portion of platform no. 10 and 11 at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus. The new, longer platform at Lokmanya Tilak Terminus will be suitable for longer trains and will also accommodate more passengers per train. Also, the capacity of the railway station to handle the increased passenger traffic will improve. Rs 64 crore have been spent for this. The length of platform no. 10 and 11 of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus station has been increased by 382 meters and special facilities have been made on the railway track of this complex for shade and washing of vehicles. Due to this expansion, the capacity of the platform has increased to accommodate a train of about 24 bogies. 52 crore rupees have been spent for this.
