A principal of a government college in Madhya Pradesh’s Sidhi district was allegedly attacked by four people who accused him of practising witchcraft, police said on Sunday. The incident took place on December 29 when Lalbahadur Singh, principal of a college in Sinhawal town. was falsely accused of performing black magic against 

Police registered a case against false accusation and a probe is underway. The principal lodged a complaint following which police filed a First Information Report (FIR) under the Indian Penal Code and the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.

"Based on a complaint lodged by Lalbahadur Singh, the principal of the government college in Sinhawal town, a case has been registered against four persons and further investigation is underway," Sidhi Superintendent of Police Ravindra Verma said as quoted by news agency PTI.

A video of the incident, which took place on December 29, has also gone viral on social media. Verma said the motive behind the attack is being probed and the accused are yet to be arrested. Meanwhile, the principal said he came to know from the college employees that the attackers claimed he was involved in witchcraft, which is not true.
