In a shocking discovery at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, a woman arriving from Doha, Qatar, was arrested for attempting to smuggle cocaine worth Rs 62.6 crore concealed inside Oreo biscuit and chocolate boxes. The bust, made by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), took place on July 14 as she was exiting the airport.
Acting on a specific tip-off, the DRI intercepted the Indian national as she arrived from Doha. The intelligence suggested that a woman would be attempting to bring narcotics into the country on that particular date. A thorough search of her luggage revealed six large boxes labeled as Oreo biscuits and three boxes of chocolates.

Authorities confirmed that the total weight of the recovered cocaine amounted to 6,261 grams. Valued at Rs 62.6 crore in the international illegal drug market, the seizure marks one of the biggest individual cocaine smuggling attempts thwarted at the airport in recent months. The woman has since been taken into custody, and an investigation is currently in progress.
This incident follows a similar case just weeks earlier. On June 22, DRI officers arrested a male passenger who had arrived in Mumbai from Sierra Leone. In that case, officials seized 1,139 grams of cocaine concealed in his belongings, with a street value of Rs 11.39 crore.
