Ghazipur: In a shocking incident, a half-burnt body of a woman was discovered near Ghazipur on Sunday, amid heightened security in the Delhi National Capital Region for the 76th Republic Day celebrations.

According to the police, they received a call at approximately 4 PM on January 26, reporting the recovery of a charred body in the area. The woman has been identified as Shilpa, as cited in a News18 report.

Upon the arrival of the police team, they found it difficult to identify the body due to the severe burns. A detailed investigation was immediately launched, and an FIR was promptly registered.

Several police teams were deployed to gather information and track down the person responsible for the crime.

Through the investigation, the accused was identified as Amit Tiwari, who was arrested from Greater Noida. Amit confessed to the crime, revealing that the victim was his cousin, Shilpa.

In a shocking revelation, Amit disclosed that he and Shilpa had been living together in a live-in relationship. Shilpa had been pressuring him to marry her, which led to a violent confrontation. Under the influence of alcohol, Amit strangled her to death.

After committing the heinous crime, Amit contacted his friend, Anuj, and the two conspired to dispose of the body. They purchased petrol from a petrol pump and initially planned to transport the body out of the city.

However, due to heightened security checks for Republic Day, they decided to dispose of the body in the Ghazipur area instead. They doused the body with petrol and set it on fire using fresh stubble, attempting to destroy evidence and render the body unrecognizable.

Police have detained both Amit and his accomplice, Anuj, and further investigations are underway.

Amit has been charged with murder, and both suspects will face additional charges related to the crime.
