Zubeen Garg Death Case: Following the sudden death of popular Assamese singer Zubeen Garg, his wife, Garima Saikia Garg, has recently raised serious concerns about the circumstances surrounding Zubeen Garg’s death on September 19 in Singapore.
What Did Zubeen Garg’s Wife Say?
During an interview with CNN-News18, she questioned the role of his manager, without naming Siddhartha Sharma directly. “Why was he not taken care of when his manager was there? We have lost our cultural icon,” CNN-News18 quoted Garima as saying.
She further said that the singer was unexpectedly taken on a picnic and swimming trip despite being visibly exhausted from his tours. Garima also recalled speaking to Zubeen a day before the incident, noting that he hadn’t mentioned any such plans during the conversation, which suggests he may not have informed.

“He usually sleeps during the day; maybe he was forcefully taken. He was also on medication – I don’t even know if he was given his medicines,” he added.
What We Know So Far?

- Garg was found unconscious in the water and was immediately rushed to the Singapore General Hospital, where he was later declared dead.
- Garmina expressed shock, noting that the 52-year-old singer never had heart problems. “He never had a heart problem… when he had the seizure, he was back in a minute. I was really shocked,” she said.
- When she asked Zubeen’s manager about the incident, she was told that he had his first seizure in the water, CNN-News18 reported.
- Garima further expressed concerns that the family has been denied access to photos and videos from that day, adding, “There might be many things… and we all want to know what exactly happened.”

Garg, who was in Singapore to perform at the Northeast India Festival to commemorate 60 years of India-Singapore diplomatic relations, tragically died while swimming. Following the incident, the police arrested Garg’s manager, Siddhartha Sharma, and festival chief organiser, Shyamkanu Mahanta, from Delhi. They faced charges of culpable homicide not amounting to murder, criminal conspiracy, and causing death by negligence.
Earlier, Garima expressed “relief” that the two accused had been brought to Assam. Expressing her confidence in the authorities, Garima said that she has “full faith in the investigating team” and “we are all waiting to know what happened to him in his last moments.”
