This is a story that is very different from the common perception. Usually, Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers are seen as being completely buried in files and official work, with their busy schedules leaving them no time for anything else. But even in this crowd, there are some officers who quietly do things for their own personal satisfaction and inner happiness.
The special part is that in today's world, where people publicise even the smallest things on social media, these officers don't even want to reveal their names. They do all their work from behind the scenes. This is the story of one such 2001-batch IAS officer from the Jharkhand cadre. His story not only shows his deep love for cows and compassion for birds but also teaches that true service is that which is done without any show-off. This IAS officer, who is also a qualified MBBS doctor, has been engaged in this silent service for the last six to seven years.
Security Guard's Shed Becomes A Cow Shelter
The shed built for security guards outside this IAS officer's official government house has now been turned into a shelter for cows. Whenever he sees an injured or sick cow on the streets, he first contacts its owner and then, with their permission, arranges for its treatment. With the help of veterinarians, he has treated more than 50 seriously ill cows so far. Not only that, he also ensures they get vaccinated to protect them from diseases. His wife fully supports him in this noble work.
The officer's love for animals is not just limited to cows; he is always ready to help injured birds too. As soon as he gets information about any sick or injured animal or bird, he immediately informs a veterinary officer, Dr. Suranjan Sarkar. He not only arranges for medical treatment but also provides necessary facilities like a car and a driver himself. A crowd of cows often gathers outside his house, and he takes full care of their food and water needs.
A Spiritual Connection With Voiceless Creatures
In casual conversations with the vets who treat the animals on his request, he refers to the cows as 'Kamdhenu' (the mythical wish-granting cow) and the calves as 'Nandi' (the sacred bull of Lord Shiva), which shows his deep cultural and spiritual attachment.
The veterinarians are also greatly inspired by this officer's dedication to service. They can't stop praising his commitment and selflessness. According to them, this officer is not only compassionate towards animals but his work is also an inspiration for the whole society.
In today's age, where people brag about their smallest deeds on social media, this officer prefers to work anonymously. His unique effort is an excellent example of true compassion for voiceless beings.
