The central government has made e-KYC compulsory for all ration cardholders under the National Food Security Scheme (NFSA). In accordance with this, the Palamu district administration has set December 31, 2025, as the deadline for completing e-KYC. Officials have warned that failure to meet the deadline may lead to cancellation of ration cards and stoppage of subsidised grain supply.
According to official data, 18,26,801 members are registered under the NFSA in Palamu district, linked to 4,08,824 ration cards. So far, 13,54,534 members have completed their e-KYC, accounting for 74.14 per cent of the total. However, 4,72,267 beneficiaries are still pending verification.

The administration has urged all remaining cardholders to complete the process promptly to avoid disruption in ration distribution. The central government had originally set December 31, 2024, as the deadline, but it has been extended multiple times to facilitate beneficiaries. Officials, however, have clarified that no further relaxation is expected beyond 2025.
Under the NFSA, each beneficiary receives 5 kg of foodgrains per unit per month, free of cost. To complete e-KYC, beneficiaries must visit their state’s PDS portal, select the e-KYC option, enter their ration card number, and verify their Aadhaar using an OTP sent to the mobile number linked with Aadhaar. The process must be repeated for all members associated with the ration card.
“All ration cardholders in the district must complete e-KYC by December 31 to continue receiving their monthly rations without interruption,” said Priti Kisku, District Supply Officer, Palamu.
