World Mental Health Day 2023: A person's life is significantly impacted by their mental health, which shapes their thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. When a person's mental health is in good shape, they may feel content, happy, and resilient in the face of difficulties. On the other hand, mental illness can result in a variety of problems, from damaged relationships and decreased productivity to more serious effects like substance abuse and even suicidal thoughts.

Today, October 10, people from all across the globe are celebrating the global campaign for World Mental Health Day to raise awareness about the importance of mental health and well-being. It is critical to identify and treat mental health problems since they affect both a person's daily functioning and overall quality of life. Despite having mental health issues, individuals can reclaim control and lead productive lives by seeking support and therapy.
Here, Dr. Sameer Malhotra, who is the Director and Head of the Department of Mental Health and Behavioral Sciences at Max Super Speciality Hospital in Saket, told Jagran English about what to do when you are feeling lonely.
Dr. Sameer said, "Loneliness can breed boredom, depression, anxiety, insecurities, fearfulness, disturbed sleep, substance or alcohol dependence, and many psychosomatic ailments. Humans are emotional and social beings."
