Fungal infections, commonly known as mycosis are caused by harmful overgrowth of fungi and spread rapidly during monsoon's humid climate. This contagious disease can occur on various parts of the body through skin contact, contaminated water and damp environments. These infections target skin, nails and internal organs. Common types include ringworm, athlete's foot and nail fungus which causes symptoms like itching, redness, swelling and discharge. If left untreated, fungal infections can lead to serious complications such as organ damage and respiratory issues. However, several home remedies are shown to treat the fungal infections quickly.

Home Remedies For Fungal Infections

Tea Tree Oil

Tea tree oil's antifungal and antimicrobial properties help combat fungal infections. Its active compound, cineole inhibits fungal growth and reduces inflammation. Diluted with a carrier oil, it can be applied to treat conditions like athlete's foot and ringworm. Its antiseptic properties also prevent infection spread and promote healing.

Aloe Vera

The compounds, aloin and aloe-emodini aloe vera inhibit fungal growth and reduce inflammation. Topical application of aloe vera gel helps soothe skin irritations and combat fungus on affected areas, promoting healthy skin and rapid healing.

Coconut oil

Coconut's antifungal properties, particularly lauric acid help to treat fungal infections. Its medium-chain triglycerides (MCTs) inhibit fungal growth, reduce inflammation and soothe skin irritations.

Yogurt

Yogurt's live cultures, particularly Lactobacillus acidophilus and its probiotic properties balance gut flora, boost immunity and fight candida overgrowth. Thus, the lactic acid present in yogurt reduces pH and applying it to affected areas treats vaginal yeast infections, athlete's foot and skin fungal infections.

Lemon Juice

The antifungal and antimicrobial properties of lemon aid in treating fungal infections. Its citric acid and vitamin C content prevents fungal growth. Applying lemon juice on the impacted area is an effective and easy remedy to cure discomfort and treat fungal infections.
