Melanocytes ordinarily respond to UV light from either the sun or a tanning bed by producing more melanin, leading to darker skin. This is a self-protection mechanism, designed to keep the deeper layers of skin from harm. Once you have a tan, it may be challenging to remove, especially in places like your feet.

However, some natural ingredients may help reduce the visibility of pigmentation associated with tanning and can be used to encourage your skin to return to a similar appearance to its un-tanned, natural hue for a more even complexion. DIY Remedies To De-Tan Feet

Potato And Lemon Juice

The potato has bleaching properties while the lemon juice has astringent properties that work together. Create a natural tan remover by combining potato and lemon juice. Apply to feet for 15-20 minutes, then rinse with cold water. Do this twice a week to help restore the skin's natural shade.

Oatmeal, Lemon Juice And Curd

Exfoliate and revitalise your skin using a combination of oatmeal, lemon juice and curd. Gently scrub onto your feet for 10-15 minutes and rinse. Finally, apply a moisturising lotion or cream and do this every week to remove dead skin cells and improve the health of your skin.

Tomatoes

To decrease discolouration on tanned feet, rub fresh tomatoes on them as they have natural bleaching properties. If you prefer, you can also mix tomato juice with sugar and use that as a gentle scrub instead. Simply rub it, leave it for 30 minutes and then wash it off with water.

Create a nourishing paste by mixing milk cream, orange and sandalwood. Apply the paste to the affected areas of the feet for about 30 to 35 minutes and wash it off with cold water. Do this twice a week.

The natural de-tanning properties of turmeric make it a perfect pairing with corn flour when it comes to tan removal.
