A face toner is a crucial part of any skincare regime as it helps to balance the skin's pH, tighten pores and prepare the skin to use further products. Toners can be particularly beneficial during summer as they provide a refreshing and hydrating boost to the skin. However, with the numerous commercial toners available in the market, it can be overwhelming to choose the right one. But worry not!

Creating a DIY toner tailored to your skin type can be a great alternative. By using natural ingredients, you can customise a toner that suits your skin's specific needs. To help you with this, we've compiled some simple recipes of homemade toners that you can create to achieve healthy, hydrated and glowing skin naturally.

Homemade Face Toners

Aloe Vera And Rosewater

Mix aloe vera gel and rosewater in a clean bowl until well combined. Pour the mixture into a sterilised spray bottle and store in the refrigerator for up to two weeks. To use, spray onto a cotton pad and gently apply to the face or mist directly onto the skin for a refreshing and hydrating boost.

Green Tea And Chamomile Tea

Steep two tea bags, one of green tea and the other of chamomile tea in boiling water for 15 minutes and then let the liquid cool. Transfer the cooled tea to a spray bottle and store it in the refrigerator for a couple of days. Spray onto the face to soothe and calm the skin, reduce inflammation and promote healthy and radiant skin.

Citrus Mint Toner

The citrus mint toner, made with lemon juice, crushed mint and water is perfect for oily skin. The astringent properties of lemon help reduce excess oil and tighten pores while the refreshing mint cools and calms the skin. This natural toner balances skin pH and leaves the skin clean and fresh.

Apple Cider Vinegar, Honey And Aloe Vera Gel

Diluting apple cider vinegar with water, honey or aloe vera gel creates a soothing toner. The acidity in the vinegar helps balance skin pH, reduce acne and tighten pores. Honey adds antibacterial properties and hydration while aloe vera provides additional soothing and calming benefits.

Aloe Vera Gel And Cucumber

Mix one tbsp of aloe vera gel with cucumber paste or juice. Apply the solution to your skin and neck using a cotton dab to gently wipe away dirt and impurities. The cooling and soothing properties of aloe vera and cucumber help calm and hydrate the skin. Finally, wash off with cold water.
