The word processed foods triggers an alarm in our minds, alerting us to the fact that they are categorised as harmful foods. We are all aware of the risks processed foods cause to our health. Foods that have undergone modifications from their original state, such as washing, chopping, heating, canning, pasteurisation, cooking, or freezing, are referred to as processed foods. Most people think processed meals are harmful or bad, but certain processed foods are healthful, even though many processed meals are less nutrient-dense. Here are some healthy processed foods that you can include in your regular diet.
Healthy Processed Foods
Lentils
Lentils that are frozen or canned are processed foods that are exposed to heat while retaining the majority of their essential components. This makes them a nutritious addition to your meals. Plant-based foods like lentils provide the body with essential nutrients like protein, fibre, vitamins, and minerals.
Soy Milk
One of the most popular options for dairy products is soy milk. Soybeans are soaked, pulped, and then combined with water to form soy milk. If a vegan is lactose intolerant, soy milk may be their best dairy substitute. It is well recognised that this is the only plant milk that contains all of the essential amino acids, calcium, vitamin D, and complete protein.

Whole-grain meals are a fantastic way to include nutrients in your diet. Fibre, vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients are found in whole grains. Whole grain diets assist in blood pressure, weight, and cholesterol control. In addition, these nutrients help reduce the risk of heart disease, diabetes, and other illnesses.
Canned Fish
Canned fish is also a great source of protein and beneficial omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids for the body. Even though canned fish is processed more than salmon, it still has a great nutritional profile that promotes heart and brain health.
Yoghurt
Varied yoghurt flavours are classified as processed foods since they have added flavours. However, it maintains its health. To add flavour and sweetness, one should search for plain yoghurt that has less than 12 grams of sugar per serving and top it with fresh fruit or nuts.
