Signs Of Heart Attack: Heart attack is one of the major causes of death in the world. The heart plays the most vital role in the body, which is pumping blood to every organ and tissue for its proper functioning. This blood carries oxygen and essential nutrients that help maintain bodily activities and also help remove waste products. Given its crucial role, heart attack is a common heart health issue that is being experienced by people of all age groups in recent years.  There are subtle, silent signs that the body starts showing days or even weeks before the major attack happens. These warning signs must not be ignored at any cost.

Most people, especially women and older adults, misattribute these silent signs to ageing, stress or common illness. Recognising these signs as early as possible allows timely medical interventions that can limit the damage to the heart muscles and improve the chances of recovery. Moreover, in some cases, it can prevent an acute heart attack or cardiac arrest from happening. These subtle warnings also urge making changes in the lifestyle and medications, reducing the risk factors like high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, and obesity. Here are some silent signs of a heart attack that must not be ignored.

Warning Signs Of Heart Attack

Heaviness And Burning Sensation In The Chest

A feeling of pressure, tightness or heaviness in the chest can be subtle heart attack symptoms. This discomfort is sometimes mistaken to be acidity or indigestion, especially when accompanied by a burning sensation. If such symptoms are persistent or unusual, consult the doctor immediately.

Difficulty In Breathing

Shortness of breath, even without chest pain, can be an early sign of heart disease. If there is conscious difficulty in breathing during regular activities or while resting, it must not be ignored. Prompt medical action needs to be taken.

Persistent Fatigue

Constant tiredness that doesn’t go away with rest can be an early sign that the heart is not pumping efficiently. Although fatigue may result from many conditions, it is of utmost importance to get it checked to rule out heart-related issues.

High Blood Pressure

Often called the ‘silent killer,’ high blood pressure often goes unnoticed until it causes major damage. Thus, regular monitoring is crucial as uncontrolled blood pressure increases the strain on the heart and raises the risk of heart attack and stroke.

Diabetes

Over 140 million people are affected by the problem of diabetes, causing one of the major public health concerns in the country. High blood sugar significantly increases the risk of heart disease. Regular monitoring and management of blood sugar levels are essential for heart health.
