Things To Avoid Using On Face: With the rise of social media influencers and doctors, people are believing everything and anything when it comes to skincare. Most people want to have radiant, glowing and flawless skin, but that doesn’t mean that they will start taking random beauty hacks seriously. There are DIY beauty hacks on social media that promise to give the desired results even in two days. If you’re one of those who believes in all those hacks, then please stop! Putting anything and everything on your face can cause beauty blunders instead of giving you the perfect skin of your dreams.
There’s a huge difference between right and wrong skincare and people should know them thoroughly if they want no harm to their skin. Their little knowledge of skincare can cause a big fuss, which can cause a hazardous turn on the facial skin. With the ongoing trend of creating DIY face masks and blending them naturally with manufactured ingredients, one wrong step can leave the skin feeling irritated and dry. Thus to avoid such as scenario, here’s a list of seven things that you should never put on your face that can cause harm.
Things You Should Avoid Using On Face
Lemon Juice
Although most DIY face packs involve the use of lemon juice, it tops the list when it comes to things that should be avoided using on the face. The ever-popular lemon juice is often regarded as a natural remedy for brightening skin, however, its highly acidic properties can disrupt the skin’s pH balance. This can cause skin irritation, redness and even chemical burns, especially when exposed to sunlight.
Body Lotion
If you run out of your moisturisers then don’t even think of replacing them with body lotions even for the time being. Body lotions are formulated for the thicker skin on the body and may contain ingredients that are too heavy or comedogenic for delicate facial skin. This is one of the things that you should never apply to the face as it can cause harm to your skin. Always use a moisturiser specially designed for the face.
Toothpaste
There are several toothpaste hacks that revolve around the internet. Toothpaste should be never put on the face as it contains ingredients like baking soda and menthol that are intended for cleaning teeth and not for treating skin problems like acne. Applying toothpaste to pimples can dry out the skin excessively and cause irritation.
Cooking Oils
Many people depend on some oils like coconut oil and olive oil to remove their makeup. These oils clean the makeup efficiently and also benefit the skin. However, using oils like vegetable oil and canola oil to remove makeup can result in clogging pores and causing breakouts. Thus it is important to stick to the oils that are labelled as non-comedogenic.

Body Soap
People often use soap bars on the face to clean it. Little do they know that body soaps are too harsh and drying for delicate facial skin. Instead, use a gentle face cleanser that is formulated for each skin type.
Hairspray
As the name suggests, hairsprays are specific to hair. Even when you’re applying to hair to fix it, make sure it doesn’t fall on your face. Hairsprays contain alcohol and other chemicals that can be harsh on the face causing beauty blunders.
Hair Conditioner
When applying hair conditioner on the hair, the liquid formula can run down to the face. It must be taken care that it does not come to the face as they contain ingredients that are too heavy or comedogenic for the face. Avoid using hair conditioner as a moisturiser or cleanser for the face.
