Low blood pressure can be a severe medical issue, potentially triggering life-threatening complications including heart attacks. A sudden drop in blood pressure may have contributed to the recent passing of actress Shefali Jariwala. Reports suggest that an anti-ageing injection taken on an empty stomach might have triggered the fatal drop in blood pressure, highlighting the importance of medical caution and responsible healthcare practices. If a person if his blood pressure is below, 90 MMHG his extremities are cold and his urine output is low, then it is labelled as having low blood pressure.

Low blood pressure itself doesn’t cause a direct heart attack but it can contribute to conditions that make a heart attack more likely. In a conversation with The Daily Jagran, Dr. Vivudh Pratap Singh, Senior Consultant -cardiology, Fortis Escorts Hospital, Okhla Road explained the role of low blood pressure in causing heart attack.

How does low BP have an importance?

Low BP can decrease blood supply to the heart, there may not be enough pressure to supply blood through narrow arteries and potentially cause a heart attack. If the patient is in shock, a low BP May worsen the blood supply to the heart causing a vicious cycle. Severe blood loss dehydration or massive fluid loss can cause a low BP so introduce a coronary perfusion.

What happens if there is a trauma and a lot of bleed it causes global ischaemia?

Patients with valve disorder or critical blockages with low BP can turn into cardiac ischemia. The bottom line is low. BP does not trigger the clot but severe or sudden hypotension can reduce coronary perfusion enough to worsen the ischemia course, a heart attack.
