Tips To Prevent Frizzy Hair: High Humidity in the monsoon can damage hair follicles, though the negative impacts of the rainy season can be minimised by following a holistic and structured hair care routine. Monsoon is here and so is the threat of frizzy, messy, and tangled hairs. As humidity levels rise, hairs become more prone to breakage, leaving most people with excessive hair fall.

However, the good news is that you can fight this damage effectively by sticking to the proper hair care routine. Mr Devji Hathiyani, Co-founder, Dr.Rashel listed some basics and advanced measures to tackle monsoon frizz.

How To Prevent Monsoon Frizz

Keep Scalp Clean

First and foremost, keep your scalp clean as excessive dirt and buildup in the monsoon can damage hair follicles significantly. Wash your hair with gentle shampoo at least 2-3 times a week to keep your scalp clear of impurities and excessive oils. The use of keratin shampoo and conditioner is specifically recommended during the rainy season as these products help prevent hair damage and frizziness. It’s also recommended to pay close attention to the ingredients of your hair care products and opt only for natural or organic products.

Use Microfiber Towel

Using a microfiber towel to dab dry your hair can also prove instrumental in reducing hair fall during the monsoon. Do not vigorously rub your hair after the shower as it may lead to excessive breakage, thereby reducing the overall density of your hair.

Choosing Wide Tooth Comb

The use of a wide-tooth comb is especially preferred during the rainy season. Compared to a narrow comb, the larger gaps in a wide comb help it glide through and detangle curls gently. Detangling of hair can also be aided by applying in-hair conditioners and serums which are specifically recommended to be used after showers.

Applying Heat Protectant

If you regularly heat style your hair then using a heat protectant is a must for you. Especially in the monsoon, exposing your hair directly to heat can cause irreversible damage and lead to heavily damaged hair follicles. Heat protectants can minimise this damage by creating a barrier between the heat and your hair.

Oiling Benefits

The application of natural hair oils is recommended during the monsoon. Among the variety of oils, the use of onion oil, tea tree oil, and argan oil is recommended owing to their high nourishment properties. That being said, oiling might make your hair less dense in appearance and hence, their use is more suitable for people with thicker, fuller, and high-density hair.

Similarly, applying gel is recommended for persons who have curly and textured strands. Last but not least, tying your hair either up or back is also an excellent measure to reduce the chances of tangling, thereby helping prevent hair damage and breakage.
