Delhi Pollution: Delhi today, November 27, woke to ‘very poor’ air quality, a day after the Commission for Air Quality Management revoked the restrictions under Stage 3 of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) in Delhi-NCR. The overall AQI of the city at 8:00 AM stood at 351. The major areas in the national capital recorded an AQI above 300, including in Burari, Anand Vihar, Chandani Chowk, ITO, Jahangirpuri and others. As the Delhi-NCR pollution continues to remain high, people are inhaling the toxic and poisonous air every day, which is deteriorating their organ health and causing discomfort like throat irritation and a blocked nose. With natural remedies for nasal congestion, you can get relief from a blocked nose in Delhi's pollution.
Congestion is mainly caused by a build-up of mucus in the nose, primarily due to allergy or sinus infection from vicious smoke, dust particles and particulate matter or PM2.5 that you may be breathing. The presence of this mucus makes breathing hard, especially for people with allergies or asthma. However, there are several instant blocked-nose remedies during Delhi pollution you can incorporate.
How To Relieve Blocked Nose From Delhi Pollution
Use A Humidifier
When suffering from a blocked nose, the nasal passages become dry and thus a humidifier can help moisten the air and reduce congestion. It helps increase the moisture in the air, which thins the thick mucus and soothes swollen nasal passages. The added humidity also breaks up the mucus, allowing it to drain more easily and reducing sinus.

Nasal Drip
A saline spray helps open a blocked nose by flushing out mucus and allergens, while moisturising and soothing the nasal passages. It thins the thickened mucus and allows it to clear and wash away irritants like dust and pollen that cause inflammation and congestion. Make saline water by mixing salt and water.
Drink Lots Of Water
Adequate hydration is the key to opening nasal passages, especially when you have a blocked nose. Make sure to drink lots of fluids, including water, clear soups and herbal teas, as they add the required moisture to your nasal passage.

Steam Inhalation
Steam inhalation is one of the best ways to breathe easily and helps open a blocked nose in minutes. You either boil water and inhale steam or breathe in steam from a hot shower. Practice this twice a day for long-lasting effects. For an extra boost, you can also add a few drops of eucalyptus oil or crushed ginger to the hot water.
Massage
A gentle massage, using light pressure by sliding your fingers down the sides of your nose from the bridge to the nostrils, can help open a blocked nose instantly. You can also perform a gentle, circular massage just outside your nostrils to help break up congestion.
These instant blocked-nose remedies can be incorporated into a daily routine to fight nasal congestion amid Delhi pollution. The natural treatments and preventive measures can help you breathe more easily in the very poor air quality of Delhi-NCR.
