Eid-Al-Fitr 2024 Moon Sighting Timings: Eid-Al-Fitr, the popular festival in the Islamic calendar, is celebrated on the first day of Shawwal, the 10th month of the Lunar Hijri calendar. The date of Eid-Al-Fitr depends on the moon sighting in different parts of the world. Saudi Arabia announced Eid-Al-Fitr celebrations for Wednesday as no moon was sighted on Monday and India usually celebrates Eid a day after Saudi Arabia. Also, the first day of the tenth month, Shawwal, in the Islamic calendar aligns with April 10, marking the end of Ramadan. Therefore, in India Eid-Al-Fitr is expected to be celebrated on April 11, a day after Saudi Arabia.
Muslims across the world eagerly wait to observe the ‘Chand Raat’, known as an evening filled with excitement and anticipation of moon sighting. The sighting of the moon on Chand Raat signifies the culmination of Ramadan month and the beginning of festivities. After the moon sighting on Chand Raat, Muslims celebrate Eid-Al-Fitr.
