Sankashti Chaturthi 2023: One of the most auspicious occasions in the Hindu community is Sankashti Chaturthi, which is celebrated on the Chaturthi Tithi of the Krishna Paksha in the Jyestha month of the Hindu calendar. It is a special day dedicated to Lord Ganesha when devotees observe a whole day-long fast to seek the deity’s blessings.

The occasion of Sankashti Chaturthi is celebrated every month and is named after the month it falls in. According to the Hindu scriptures, this occasion is dedicated to Lord Ganesha, who is known as the deity to be worshipped before any other God or Goddess. No puja or religious ceremony is complete without worshipping Lord Ganesha first and offering bhog to him.

On the special day of Sankashti Chaturthi, devotees across the country observe a whole-day fast to seek blessings of Vighnaharta, Lord Ganesha. People observe fast to seek blessings for prosperous and obstacle-free life.

Ekadanata Sankashti Chaturthi 2023: Puja Rituals

1. The puja rituals of Vikata Sankashti Chaturthi involve getting up early in the morning, cleaning the house, taking a holy bath, and wearing clean clothes.

2. The puja of Vikata Sankashti begins with lighting a lamp and invoking Lord Ganesha’s presence through prayers and mantras.

3. Devotees offer flowers, fruits, sweets, and other items while reciting special prayers and reading the Sankashti Chaturthi Vrat Katha.

4. The whole day fast is observed by the devotees, expressing their gratitude and seeking blessings from Lord Ganesha for overcoming hurdles in life.

5. After the recitation of prayers and performing rituals, devotees break their fast by consuming prasad offered to the deity. The prasad can include coconut, jaggery, sesame seeds, and modak.
