Frequent exercise makes the heart stronger and improves its ability to pump blood throughout the body. This increased efficiency lessens the burden on the heart and minimizes the risk of heart conditions like high blood pressure, coronary artery disease, and heart attacks.
By raising high-density lipoprotein (HDL), also referred to as "good" cholesterol, and lowering triglycerides and low-density lipoprotein (LDL), which can lead to plaque accumulation in the arteries, exercise helps maintain healthy cholesterol levels. Furthermore, exercise helps control weight, which lowers the likelihood of obesity, a major risk factor for heart disease.
