According to Dr. Santosh, going through stressful or emotional turmoil can lead to mental health problems. These feelings are often accompanied by a deep sense of helplessness and psychological distress that can negatively impact daily life. It can create feelings of anxiety, depression, grief, loss, sadness, frustration, irritation, anger, agitation, and guilt. People may avoid social gatherings or interactions with friends and family, leading to social isolation, which can worsen their emotional distress. Simple day-to-day activities, like eating or going outside, can feel overwhelming. If left unattended, these issues may lead to clinical depression or other mental health disorders, and thoughts of ending one’s life may cross their mind.
5 Ways To Help Someone Experiencing Suicidal Thoughts:
Listen To Them:
Sit with them and listen to their concerns and problems. This gesture can help create a safe space for them to express their feelings freely. Being a good listener without interrupting or judging them can be reassuring. Frequently interrupting them during conversations can break their flow and make them anxious.
