Late-night gatherings, heavy makeup, and lack of sleep can impact skin health during the winter season, making it appear dull. Taking good care of your skin during this chilly season ensures you look dazzling and radiant. Follow these dermatologist-approved tips to nourish your skin and enhance your festive glow!

With winter and wedding season here, it’s the perfect time to meet loved ones, dress up for functions, and indulge in festive treats. However, while enjoying everything the season offers, we often neglect skincare. A few simple tips and tricks can help you attain glowing skin and be ready for perfect outings and photos. In a conversation with Jagran English, Dr. Dipali Malvankar, a dermatologist at Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai, shared essential skincare tips to follow this winter season:

Hydrate: Festive and wedding treats are often high in salt and sugar, which can dehydrate your body. Water is best! Avoid aerated soft drinks and limit alcohol intake. Non-sweetened, naturally flavored lemon, cucumber, or mint-infused water will add taste without harmful effects.

Non-Comedogenic Products: Look for this label on makeup and skincare items. Avoid heavy, oil-based creams, as they can block pores. Use makeup only when necessary—remember, healthy skin is the best makeup!

Remove Makeup Before Sleeping: Leaving makeup on overnight can block pores and make removal difficult. It’s best to use a mix of oil- and water-based makeup removers, followed by a gentle cleanser to complete your routine.

Detox Once A Week: Give your body and skin a break from heavy food and makeup. Eat plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables, and use minimal products on your skin.

Exercise Regularly: Exercise boosts immunity and helps control weight. Aim for 150 minutes of moderate-intensity exercise each week.

Skin Procedures: Non-invasive treatments like chemical peels, skin polishing, and lasers can give you radiant, glowing skin with minimal downtime. Allow a few days between procedures and major events.

Sunscreen And Moisturizer: Don’t skip the basics of skincare. Protecting your skin from the sun is essential, even in winter.

Adequate Rest: 6 to 8 hours of sleep is essential to help the mind, body, and skin recover. Avoid over-exerting yourself on consecutive days, and give yourself time to recuperate before your next event.
