Easy Modak Recipe For Ganesh Chaturthi 2023: Vinayaka Chaturthi or Ganesh Chaturthi is a significant Hindu festival that is celebrated with grand festivities across the nation. It is celebrated to mark the birth anniversary of Lord Ganesha, who is believed to be born during Shukla Paksha of Bhadrapada month. This year, Ganesh Chaturthi will be celebrated on September 19 and the celebrations will go on for 10 days with the last day as Ganesh Visarjan.

From worshipping Lord Ganesha, welcoming the deity at your home to preparing delicacies and offering bhog to Lord Ganesha, Ganesh Chaturthi marks as one of the most vibrant festivities across the country. While you can prepare numerous delicacies to serve Ganpati Bappa, modak is known to be the favourite sweet of Lord Ganesha. Ganesh Chaturthi 2023: Easy Modak Recipe

Ingredients: To prepare modak at home, you need minimum ingredients which include coconut, jaggery, rice flour, cardamom powder, and milk.

- To make modak, the first step is to heat ghee or oil in a pan. When the oil gets hot, add grated coconut and jaggery into the pan and stir well. Make sure to mix the paste of coconut and jaggery well so that no lumps are formed. Let it come to a stage where it appears gooey. Cook until it is still juicy and now add ghee, nutmeg and cardamom to the mixture.

- Mix all the ingredients in the pan thoroughly, and switch off the gas. Keep it aside and let it cool. Now, to prepare the dough for modak, take a big bowl and add rice flour to it. Add a pinch of salt and ghee to the rice flour and mix well. Take lukewarm water and knead the dough with it and once done, keep it aside to avoid drying up.

- Now, take a half-size dough piece, flatten it and add coconut and jaggery filling to it. Pull its edges, bring it to the centre and seal it. Give it a shape similar to modak and remove the extra portion from the top. Make sure that the sides of the modak are thin. Take a steamer pot and add two cups of water into it, grease the steamer plate and arrange your modak on it.

- Cover the lid of the steamer properly and let it cook for about 5-10 minutes until the outer cover begins to gather water droplets. Your steamed hot modak is ready to be served!

Meanwhile, the Chaturthi Tithi will begin at 12:39 PM on Sep 18, 2023 and end at 01:43 PM on Sep 19, 2023. According to Drik Panchang, it is believed that Lord Ganesh was born during Shukla Paksha of Bhadrapada month. Ganesh Puja is preferred during Madhyanha as it is believed that Lord Ganesh was born during Madhyahna Kala. Madhyahna Kala is equivalent to midday according to the Hindu division of the day.
