According to Dr. Prasad Kulat, a healthy menstrual cycle should not involve significant discomfort, headaches, drastic mood swings, or fatigue. Menstrual flow should be moderate. Severe disruptions or mood swings could indicate hormonal imbalances, stress, or medical conditions such as polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), endometriosis, or fibroids. Women should be vigilant about these symptoms and consult an expert when necessary.

By being aware of menstrual health, women can remain proactive in preventing complications such as infertility or chronic pain, which can interfere with daily life. Period pain can be challenging for some women and may lead to feelings of depression, stress, and anxiety, explained Dr. Kulat.
