THE WORLD is geared up to celebrate the major festival of the Muslim community, Eid-Ul-Fitr 2023. The festival of Eid marks the culmination of 30 days of the holy month of Ramadan. The dates for the Eid festival vary in different parts of the world, as they are subjected to moon sightings. Eid-Ul-Fitr 2023 was celebrated in many parts of the world, especially Arab nations, on April 21 after the sighting of the crescent moon.
Eid 2023 Date In India
After the sighting of Shawwal crescent moon in various parts of the country, the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee has announced that Eid 2023 will be celebrated in India on April 22 (Saturday).
Meanwhile, the state of Kerala is likely to observe the Eid 2023 festivities a day before the other parts of the country. Kerala is the only Indian state where the date of Eid-Ul-Fitr is decided by the crescent moon sighting in Saudi Arabia. Whereas, in Kashmir, the date for Eid celebrations is regulated by the Grand Mufti of the state, who declares the date of the festival based on moon sightings.
Celebrations Of Eid 2023
The occasion of Eid-Al-Fitr is celebrated by Muslims worldwide by offering their prayers to the Almighty, preparing delicacies, visiting mosques, and greeting one another by saying ‘Eid Mubarak' along with exchanging hugs and much more. It is a pious time of forgiveness, harmony and togetherness. The festival of Eid lets people reflect on their past deeds, practice donations and remember God.
It is believed to be the most important observance in Islam, with the completion of the month of Ramadan leading to Meethi Eid or Badi Eid. As a part of the festivities, Muslims gather in open spaces of mosques to offer special prayers, referred to as ‘Eid prayers’. People spend time with their family and friends and enjoy delicacies with one another.
