New Delhi | Jagran Lifestyle Desk: The auspicious festival of Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated to mark the birth of Lord Ganesha. He was known as the remover of obstacles, Gof of intelligence and new beginnings. He was born to Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. Ganeshotsav is a ten-day festival that commemorates on fourth day of Bhadrapada and lies in the month of August or September as per english calendar.
During this festival, Idols of the elephant god are worshipped by people across India. Several dishes including 'modak' are made to please Ganesha. The festival ends by immersing the idol in a water body. The festival is celebrated in all parts of India especially in Maharashtra, Goa, Gujarat, Karnataka and Madhya Pradesh.
