HOLIKA DAHAN, also known as Choti Holi is celebrated across the country just a day before Holi. It is an important and auspicious day that commemorates the beginning of Holi festival. It is celebrated to mark teh victory of good over evil and is associated with the legend of Bhakt Prahalad and Holika. Holika Dahan should be done during Pradosh Kaal (which starts after sunset) while Purnimasi Tithi is prevailing. Bhadra prevails during the first half of Purnima Tithi and all good work should be avoided when Bhadra prevails. Holi Dahan is observed a day before Holi in grand festivities. This year, Holi will be celebrated on March 08 across the country, therefore Holika Dahan will be celebrated on March 07.
