Happy Hartalika Teej 2023 Fasting Rules: The auspicious occasion of Hartalika Teej will be celebrated on September 18 across the different parts of the country with great enthusiasm and fanfare. Hartalika Teej is one of the significant festivals on which women observe a whole-day-long fast for the longevity, success and well-being of their husbands. It is also observed that unmarried women find an ideal partner by worshipping Goddess Parvati and seeking her blessings.
It is observed during the Shukla Paksha Tritiya of the Bhadrapad month and statutes and idols of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati are worshipped for marital bliss and progeny. As women observe a fast on this occasion, it is important to be mindful of what one should eat and avoid for the success of the fast. Hartalika Teej 2023: What To Eat
- According to the legends, on Hartalika Teej women observe a complete day fast without even consuming water, which makes it a difficult task. But in order to prevent fatigue and hunger, one must consume healthy drinks at the time of breaking the fast.
- At the time of Sargi, one can consume curd or milk to break the fast.
- You can also include fresh fruits such as papaya, watermelon, oranges, apple, pomegranates or guava in your sargi plate.

- During the Teej festivities, women observing fast can consume coconut water, lemon water, and fruit juices to keep themselves hydrated.
- One can also eat dry fruits and seeds such as almonds, cashews, walnuts or pistachios.

Hartalika Teej 2023: What To Avoid
- Consuming non-vegetarian foods such as meat, chicken, fish etc. is strictly forbidden during the auspicious Hartalika Teej fasting.
- You must avoid including garlic and onion in your food at this significant festival.
- Keep in mind to avoid drinking alcohol and alcohol-based beverages during fasting.
- Avoid consuming foods that are too oily or spicy as they can hinder the functioning of the digestive system and also cause frequent thirst.
